Joni Underwood and her 2005 Corvette for a story on the recession and the paradigm shift of the automobile from yearly trade-in to a “a longevity-driven commodity like the Maytag washing machine.”  Prior to the recession, her husband was purchasing between two and five new cars each year; it’s been 14 months since his last new car.
